Waffles, Chocolate, and Beer

Yesterday, Naveen and I left Trinity at 4:15. We were way too early! For some reason the walk down the street to Gloucester Green was quicker than I remembered it to be. The bus came on time and on its first stop, the door fell off. Legit, the doors that opened sideways, fell off the bus. It was the beginning of a day of fails. I think it I was being punished for not starting my essay the night before. So we waited about 20 minutes until the next bus came to pick us up. I knocked out on the ride, it was only about an hour and a half to Victoria Coach Station. We had two hours to kill, so we went to get some breakfast across the street, which was disgusting, then checked-in and waited. Naveen had to pay 30p to use the toilets. Haha.

When we boarded the coach, I knocked out again. Naveen woke me up to see the scenery, but I was way too tired for that. We had a rest stop somewhere along the border of France, and Naveen went to get us some Burger King. It cost 8 euro for two whopper juniors and small fries. -_- We had to eat outside, and for some reason I thought I could read through the research I printed out while eating. Right when I took a first bite of my burger, my papers fell on the ground and flew away... I couldn't help but laugh. Haha. This WOULD happen to me. Naveen tried to run after it, but a car drove by and it was too late. Haha. We got back on the coach and as we drove away, I saw security guards holding my papers and bringing it inside, probably to throw it away. Haha. Also, customs didn't stamp my passport again... -_- My life just sucks sometimes.

I lost the most important papers, but Naveen was done with is paper and told me I could use it when we got to the hostel. We finally got to Brugge around 15:00.

From the bus stop, we tried to look for our hostel. I printed out directions from the station to the hostel, but for some reason, it wasn't at the right place... At that point, I figured it was an address to another station. Yup, fail number three! We got a map and then tried to find our way.

We didn't walk too long, until we saw the main area of town. I wanted authentic Belgium waffles and chocolate! But Naveen wanted to get to the hostel so we can just put our stuff down. We ended up paying 2 euros for The Brugge Museum, an archeology museum... I should've known it would be boring. So we put our 2 euros to good use and dressed up in the kid costumes in the museum. Haha.
Then we unintentionally snuck in to the cathedral across the street. Haha. I don't remember what the name of the cathedral was, but like all the others I have seen, it was beautiful.
After that, we continued to look for St. Christopher's Hostel. Yay! Picture by a bridge!

After a while of getting lost, we found it! Naveen sent in his essay and gave me the laptop to start mine, while he took a shower. The plan was to do the essay until 21:00, finish it in the morning, and send it in. However, halfway through reopening the sites I used for the research, I realized Naveen had about 30 minutes of battery life. Then, I realized that Naveen brought the wrong converter for the charger! Fail number four! The hostel had computers and I know there are internet cafe's out there, but I just didn't want to pay to write a paper, who knows how long it would've taken! Naveen came down and we decided to eat because he was going to a beer tasting event that night while I was doing the essay. We tried to find Belgium waffles, but that was a fail, we didn't know if anything was open or even where anything was. So we ended up get kip fingers and fries, both of which, were pretty bad, especially the fries...

After dinner, Naveen convinced me to go to the beer tasting, saying that since it's a tasting, they wouldn't give you too much beer, and if I didn't want to drink it, he would drink it for me. So I entered in beer tasting that would take place at 19:30. So my new plan was to go to the beer tasting, which would take an hour, write my essay by hand until 23:00, then get waffles, then continue the essay until I couldn't anymore.

The beer tasting was pretty fun. The person in charge of it was from New York, but had moved to Brugge four years ago. The told us the proper way to order beer in Belgium and the history of the beers we were tasting.
We met three girls from the Netherlands, a guy from Paraguay, Colombia, California, and two guys from Germany. I just love Germans for some odd reason. So imagine how excited I was to finally meet one, let alone two! I made a joke about Germans with blond hair and blue eyes, and Naveen turned over to me, and said he was scared. Haha. No racial on my part, I don't know about Naveen's. Haha. The beer was strong. Everything was 8% alcohol and higher. Their portions were a lot bigger than I thought they would give us, and Naveen backed out of our deal. I felt so much pressure to finish everything. Haha. So I chugged everything I was given. Not a great idea in the end. Haha. After the tasting, everyone wanted to go to this pub that brewed their own beer. I had to do my paper, but at that point, I don't think I was in any state to write a paper, and was convinced to join them. Haha. We got lost finding the pub but it was nice getting to know everyone a bit more. When we finally found it, it seemed like more of a classy restaurant. We all ordered the same beer, Garre.

Look at all that head. Haha. I didn't find out until much later that it was about 11% or 12% alcohol. Not a smart choice to down that...

After being hushed so many times, and been given dirty looks by the other customers, we left and went back to the hostel bar to redeem our free pint of beer from the beer tasting. I had a cherry beer and met a couple of people from Rome and a writer from France that had been backpacking for the last 10 years. I'm so jealous! I really want to backpack!

At one point in the night, I told Naveen to suck my dick. I would hope that everyone knows that I don't have one, but I guess these Europeans don't hear much of masculine sayings from women. They all picked on me after that. Haha. The drinks kept coming, and I found out that the Germans were going to Oxford soon! I guess everyone knew their limits, so we all returned to our hostel rooms and called it a night. And let's just say, the deed was done. Teehee.

This morning, I woke up and took a shower. Apparently, I clogged the showers and flooded the bathroom. Haha. Fail number five! Technically it wasn't my fault, because the janitor said he didn't snake that drain! I felt like crap. I don't think it was the alcohol, because I threw up the fries... Since it was a co-ed bathroom, Naveen came in and saw that I threw up, so he threw up as well. Haha. We bonded so much already. Then we signed out and took the bus to the only station in Brugge, so it was not my fault that the address was wrong! Damn google maps!
We missed our train, so we waited for the next one. In the mean time, I tried to look for souvenirs because I didn't get a chance buy a shotglass before, but they didn't sell it nearby. I got to eat authentic Belgium waffles though!
Brugge is really nice. I wish I was there longer to see more of it. This trip was different because I didn't research Brugge at all. I just decided to go on a whim!

Our train came at 12:05. We had to change trains and I passed out. Screw the essay, I could not stay up to do it. We got to Amsterdam at around 16:00 and took a taxi to the Inn Hotel. This hotel is really nice, inexpensive, and in a great location! So now I'm at the hotel computer writing this because Naveen's laptop is dead, and this computer does not have Microsoft Word. So as of now, I give up on this essay that's due tonight. Time to have some fun!
