According to my parents, it’s the real reason why I’m here. My schedule is looking pretty good. Two classes a day Monday – Wednesday. Haha! My weekend starts Wednesday at 5 pm and my school week starts on Monday at 1 pm. The good life. I’m taking a class on global terrorism, children’s literature, intro to keyboard and latin. I might drop latin, since I don’t really need it and it meets two days a week at 9 am. Aiya! I wanted to take another English class and learn Greek but it would ruin my schedule and I don’t really need it. I want this semester to be a chill one. I learned from studying in Oxford that you don’t want too much work while studying abroad. I got to take in the culture, not study all the time!
There are so many differences that I've noticed here already, especially in the language. Obviously, Australians have different accents, but I never realized that it would be hard to mimic. Don't get me wrong, I am awful at accents, but if I were to attempt an Australian accent, it would come off as a horrible British accent.
So far, I've only picked up on some things:
- the letter "H" is pronounced "haych", not "aych"
- the letter "Z" is pronounced "zed" not "zee"
- jumper = sweater/jacket
- thongs = flip flops
Hmm.. Wow.. I really haven't even picked up that much... Well, I'll have more time to. Haha.
